For our first walk of 2023, we are going to walk around the perimeter grounds of Castle Ward, these grounds are now famous as many of the outdoor scenes in the Game of Thrones were filmed there.
We first walked this route last March and we all thought it was a very nice walk, the terrain is more undulating than hilly so if it’s not too wet you might be able to wear walking shoes rather than boots, but some of the trails through the woods are narrow
We intend to meet up at 10.15 am for a 10.30 am start at the small grassy area near the slipway, which is close to the ferry port in the centre of Strangford village.
While there is no main car park in the village it should be easy to find available parking places, From Strangford we will walk to the starting point in Castle Ward (about 1 mile). There are toilets at the start / finish of the walk in Castle Ward
We will have lunch on the walk and maybe have a apres drink in the Cuan pub afterwards
