For our February walk, we are going to walk around the perimeter grounds of Castle Ward, these grounds are now famous as many of the outdoor scenes in the Game of Thrones were filmed there.
This is one of our favourite winter walks as it’s very close to the sea and should be ice free. The terrain is more undulating than hilly so if it’s not too wet you might be able to wear walking shoes rather than boots, but some of the trails through the woods are narrow
Our walk will start at 10.30 am
We will meet up in Strangford village at the small grassy area near the slipway, which is close to the ferry port in the centre of the village.
While there is no main car park in the village it should be easy to find available parking places, From Strangford we will walk to the starting point in Castle Ward (about 20 min). There are toilets at the start / finish of the walk in Castle Ward
We will have lunch on the walk and maybe have a apres drink in the Cuan pub afterwards
