Due to popular demand, we have decided to defer our Mournes walk until Springtime. So instead of walking Slieve Donard we will walk from Dundrum to Newcastle which is part of the Lecale Way from Dundrum to Newcastle.
See below for link / map of the Lecale Way, we are going to walk Section 6 of the Lecale Way
http://www.walkni.com/d/walks/0/Lecale%20Way%20Section%206.pdf
This walk goes largely around the coastline, along the beach and through Murlough Nature Reserve and if the day is good there are stunning views of the Mournes to be seen.
Our plan is to leave our cars parked at Dundrum, walk to Newcastle, where we will have lunch, before returning to Dundrum to pick up our cars and have a little post walk refreshment.
We will meet up at 10.15 for a 10.30 start. The starting point is at the Dundrum public car park which is opposite the Church. There are three car parks on your left, the first car park is the scene of a large car boot sale. The second one is a private one for the church and the last one is the public car park. This car park is the one in which we shall meet at 10.15am on Sunday 3rd November.
We have checked the tide timetable, low tide is due around 11.30 am, so hopefully the tides won’t affect us.
We would encourage car sharing so if you need a lift or can offer one please reply.
As it would be useful to ensure we don’t start without everybody let us know if you intend to come on this walk.
