November 6th Woodburn Forest

Novembers walk takes us to the North & South Woodburn forests 250 metres high above Carrickfergus, with their several reservoirs and occasional glimpses of the sea.

The plan is to have lunch at the halfway point at Knockagh monument which offers great views of Belfast Lough and north Down across the water. Some of the terrain is likely to be muddy and the reservoirs themselves will be exposed so wrap up well.

We will park at the north Woodburn Reservoir car park which is on a road called New Line, the B58, which is best accessed via the B90 Upper Road.  Please drive slowly as the car park appears with little warning. The location is as follows:-

The start time is 10.15 and the walk should take 4/5 hours.

Depending on your route and starting point traveling there from Belfast should be around 45 minutes.
