Slieve Gullion – 2nd April

Aprils walk will be to Slieve Gullion in south Armagh. The Ring of Gullion offers stunning views of the south Armagh countryside and is steeped in history and legends, including the passage tomb and Calliagh Berra’s lake at its summit

We will meet-up at the main car park of the visitors centre at Slieve Gullion for a 10:30 am start. There are toilets facilities etc available in the new visitor centre located in the car park

The walk itself is a circular walk and should take around 4-5 hours . We start with a walk thought the forest before a walk up a fairly steep hill to the passage tomb where we will have lunch. After lunch we have a more gentle descent along a rocky trail alongside Calliagh Berra’s lake. They are in the process of creating a walking path along this trail but until it’s finished it may be a bit boggy in places, so please wear appropriate clothes and footwear

After the walk we hope to stop in Murphys pub in Meigh for refreshments before heading home.
