Sunday 9th January Dundrum to Newcastle

As the first Sunday of January is so close to New Years we have decided to move our first walk of 2022 to Sunday 9th January

To get away from crowds and to help social distancing we are going to walk from Dundrum to Newcastle.

This walk goes largely around the coastline, along the beach and through Murlough Nature Reserve so it should be easier for people to employ social distancing and there are stunning views of the Mournes to be had.

We will meet up at 10.00 am at the Dundrum public car park which is opposite the Church.

There are three car parks on your left, the first car park is usually the scene of a large car boot sale. The second one is a private one for the church and the last one is the public car park. This car park is the one in which we shall meet at 10.00 am.

Our plan is to leave our cars parked at Dundrum, walk to Newcastle, where we will have lunch, before returning to Dundrum to pick up our cars

We have checked the tide timetable, there is a high tide due around 4.38 pm so high tide should not affect our walk

See below for link / map of the Lecale Way, we are going to walk Section 6 of the Lecale Way

We would like to wish all our walkers a Happy New Year and extend a welcome to new walkers

We would encourage all walkers to comply with social distancing regulations which may be in place
