As there does not appear to be a suitable Feile walk this year, we have to plan our own for August. We have decided to climb Slieve Croob once again and enjoy the views of the Mournes from the top.
We shall meet at 10.30 at Finnis, a small village about half an hour from Sprucefield, and then it’s a walk along quiet roads and a track. As we approach the summit, the terrain becomes quite boggy, as we are close to the source of the River Lagan.
Walkni has a description of Slivee Croob on its website, but we are taking a longer, more scenic route than they describe.
Parking in Finnis is limited, but last time we were there, we were able to park in the small car park beside Peter Morgan’s cottage, a community house.
